Today is the day when you will finally be massively productive. You have read Steven Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. You’ve listened to Les Brown’s speech on Pure Motivation. And you have given yourself “the talk.”
The moment finally arrives when you are about to put pen to paper, but life happens. It’s never just a bump in the road. It’s more like a historic earthquake, in-which your well-laid plans become meaningless because you are now in reactive mode, and you’re slowly drowning.
I hate those days because these moments always strike at the least opportune moment. I remember being besieged by other people’s agenda and frantically managing each unexpected request for my limited time. It can be frustrating and certainly demotivating.
But what if I told you there was a possible solution? I want to share with you seven productivity hacks that will empower you to perform at your peak every day.
Start the night before
- Identify your three must do activities for the next day.
- Set out your clothes.
- Get your 7 - 8 hours of sleep.
Maximize your morning
- Feed your body and mind, for example, yoga and meditation.
- Fuel your body by eating a healthy breakfast and hydrating.
Focus all day
- Work in 50-minute blocks, at least, 3 uninterrupted blocks of time.
- After each 50 minutes take a 10-minute break.
- Never say yes at least not immediately
Are these strategies bulletproof? No. Will they keep that life happens moments at bay. I am sorry but no. The circumstances of our lives will always trump our aspiration to be productive.
The point of these strategies is to empower you to operate at your peak; so when life happens your entire day won't be derailed. The fact of the matter is that by starting the night before, maximizing your morning and staying focused you accomplish a great deal, day after day.
