What Is The Secret To Success - The Will To Outwork And Outlearn Everyone

What is the secret path to your success? Is it your talent? Is it your connections? Is it the amount of money you can raise?

No. No. And no.

While the strategies do carry influence in your search for success, they will not help you achieve success.

According to Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, “It's not about money or connections, it's the willingness to outwork and outlearn everyone." Yes, you have to swallow the red pill to allow the righteous indignation uncover the injustice.

I took the red pill, and it was a bitter awakening.

I have been giving Cuban’s comment lots of thought over the last few days. Why, because I have been chasing success and have only ever so briefly enjoyed her warm company. When I analyze why it’s self-evident -- I don’t work hard enough, and I don’t schedule enough time to learn.

So how do you shift gears and begin executing Cuban’s strategies? This is what I challenge you to do, in some combination:

  • Become an expert in your industry by reading a book week.
  • Start, run and grow an online community in the industry you work in.
  • Give a speech a week to local organizations on specific industry problems and offer solutions.
  • Write a regular newsletter on specific industry problems and offer solutions.
  • Self-publish a book on specific industry problems and offer solutions.
  • Write a daily blog on specific industry problems and offer solutions.
  • Learn a foreign language fluently so you can expand deeper into your industry.

Take the next six months to work through these recommendations; treat the strategies as your side hustle.

If you want to achieve success relying on your talent or connections or money will only get you so far. If you want to create real success you must work hard and schedule the time to become the industry expert; everything else will follow.
