What If You Could Life Your Life at 10x?

If you could increase your output to 10x, what would your life and the value you add to others look like?

Would you...

  • create a purposeful life so you won’t ever want a vacation from it?
  • be in the best shape of your life so you can run your third triathlon, this year?
  • be the linchpin your company needs so it can achieve its vision?

Unfortunately, your output is not 10x, it barely registers as output it’s more like a random blip on an oscilloscope. Why, because you are governed to do, only the job. The job is showing up at the office, following directives, meeting spec and being managed.

If you respect the rules of the job, you are rewarded. If you do not comply with the norms of the job, you risk being fired, downsized, or forced-out.

I, like you, just did my job. I followed the narrative. That is until I heard the words of motivational speaker Les Brown explains, “We must look for ways to be an active force in our own lives. We must take charge of our own destinies, design a life of substance and truly begin to live our dreams.”

Since listening to those words, I have committed time to learning how to become more valuable. How to live my life on purpose.

Here is the system I use, which I stole from author Brendon Burchard:

Develop five questions that you can ask yourself every morning, noon and night. These questions are designed to help reprogram your mind for positivity:

  • How am I feeling right now?
  • Who have I helped today?
  • Am I taking care of my health?
  • Is this work in line with my mission?

Here is what you do next, set your smartphone to alert you at 9 AM, 12 PM and then at 6 PM. Once the alarm goes off ask yourself those questions and adjusts your course of action to match your purpose.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, explained “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” If you have lived well, you will have lived happily.
