Do you know what it takes to be a great leader? Roselinde Torres, Senior Partner & Managing Director at BCG, explains that there is a large talent gap between poor leaders and well-equipped leaders.
Torres explains there are three questions that a leader can leverage to lead others better:
1. Where are you looking to anticipate change? This question prompts additional questions that are designed to guide you through a journey -- who are you spending time with, what are you reading, where are you traveling, and how are you distilling that information into actionable results?
2. What is the diversity of your network? That is not a question of who knows you but who do you know that is different than you.
3. Are you courageous enough to abandon the past? Great leaders are not married to the status quo. These leaders think differently and are not scared of taking calculated risks.
Becoming the leader that can influence others to create incredible value is difficult. Torres mentions that by answering the three questions above you can begin to navigate away from the poorly equipped leader into a leader that not only thinks differently but can make those ideas happen.
Please watch Torres' TED talk, it’s short and provides additional information that I did not cover in this article.
