The Brooklyn Bridge. What can I say about this grand piece of engineering. Well for one she is a beauty! And does not look a day over 129 years old ;-) Yep, she is 129 years old. And the bridge's birth day is coming up on -- May 24. Construction of the Brooklyn Bridge began in 1870. And was open for traffic in 1883. So Hurricane Sandy hit New York City rather hard. Between flooding train stations, knocking out power to lower Manhattan and devastating Father Capodanno Boulevard in Staten Island -- it was the perfect storm.
